Technology when a relationship is ending

Shared accounts, alerts, and sequencing changes so you are not surprised by a notification.

This is not advice to leave or stay. It is a map of technology that is often shared, so you can plan with an advocate if you want to.

Changing a password, leaving Family Sharing, or turning off Find My can notify the other person immediately. Sudden changes are sometimes more dangerous than waiting.

A planning order many advocates discuss

1. Talk with a confidential advocate about physical safety first.

2. List accounts on paper, not in a shared note.

3. Secure an email address the other person cannot open — from a device they do not have.

4. Then decide, with a plan, whether and when to change phones, location sharing, and home devices.
